- Jason Kay started playing soccer at age 5. His first sports-related injury was incurred soon after, a mild, Grade 1 ankle sprain.
- Jason obtained his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and his MS in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University.
- Jason's worked for AT&T/Lucent Technologies-Bell Labs. He later moved to Agilent Technologies, Life-Sciences division, switching to Medical Devices with Novartis Consumer Health, Aircast, and BD (which markets the ACE bandage line).
- His first patent, 1 of 35 granted thus far, was issued February 2000. The MaxX K Premium Ankle Brace will not be his last patent.
- After years of playing sports, abusing his ankles, (especially after a particularly nasty Grade 2 sprain while running on the road to train for soccer) Jason saw the need to create an ankle brace with two objectives: support similar to a rigid brace, low profile, and easy to adjust on the fly. The challenge: eliminate the the bulk or discomfort of current marketed products, or the use of taping, without compromising its effectiveness.
